Abstract

Intracranial atherosclerotic stenoses (ICAS) are one of the most common causes of ischaemic strokes worldwide. Current therapeutic approach concerning patients with acute ischaemic stroke and ICAS includes conservative medical treatment and control of vascular risk factors. Although endovascular therapy has also been proposed over the years, it hasn’t been shown to be beneficial over conservative treatment. The aim of the current study is to present the early outcome among 98 patients with acute ischaemic stroke and intracranial stenosis, according to different therapeutic approach (intravenous thrombolysis, endovascular treatment or bridging-therapy).
