Rhabdomyolysis after quail consumption – clinical case of quail myositis

Rhabdomyolysis is a frequent polyetiological syndrome with common pathogenesis – muscle cells degradation and entrance of its byproducts into the bloodstream. We would like to present a clinical case of a 56-year-old female, treated twice at the Department of Neurology MHAT Shumen, with quail myositis – a toxic myositis after quail consumption or also known as coturnism. It is highlighted in the discussion that it is important to include rare toxic etiological factors in the differential diagnosis of rhabdomyolysis.
