Abstract

Introduction: SARS-CoV-2 is more often associated with different neurological diseases, including acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (AIDP).
Clinical case: We presented a case report of 48 years old patient with SARS-CoV-2 associated AIDP. He had almost simultaneously development of syndromes of flaccid paralysis of legs, bilateral facial myokymias and mild swallowing disturbances and acute coronavirus 19 infection. There was albumin-cytological disscociation in cerebrospinal fluid and elecroneurographic data for AIDP. The treatment with intravenous immunoglobuline (IvIg), Ceftriaxone and low-molecular heparine led to reduction of paresis, swallowing disturbances and myokymias. The patient was dehospitalized only with sensory problems.
Conclusions: SARS-CoV-2 is associated with different neurological diseases, including AIDP. The clinical picture of SARSCoV-2 associated AIDP is similar to classical AIDP, excluding shorter interval between infection syndromes and development of flaccid palsy, lack of anti-ganglioside antibodies and more frequent development of respiratory problems and thrombosis. In such cases, early IvIg treatment and prophylaxis with low-molecular heparine are suggested.
