Abstract

Numural headache (NG) is a rare disease that can be completely benign or a manifestation of an underlying problem. One of the main causes of NG is head trauma, superficial artery aneurysm, structural or dermatological lesion. NG is characterized by prolonged or intermittent pain in the head (most often the parietal area) with sharp boundaries, fixed size (average from 1 cm to 6 cm) with round or oval shape. Headache may occur with allodynia, hypo/hyperesthesia, paresthesia, hyperalgesia and hypersensitivity. Imaging of the head is a mandatory part of the diagnostic process. The clinical case from our clinic is of a patient with NG due to a head trauma more than 30 years ago at the same place of the headache. For the last 3 months the headache was daily. Treatment was initiated with pregabaline with dose titration up to 150 mg with good effect. Treatment with botulinum toxin may be initiated in case of insufficient response to previous therapy.
